This book is about a ten year old girl named Grace but everyone calls her Sprig. She has an older sister Dakota, whatever Sprig does Dakota does better and when Sprig complains Dakota just grins and calls her a big baby. Dakota and Sprig’s dad is away for a business trip, and every night when he calls Dakota always speaks to him first tells him everything new and speaks the longest, so when it is Sprig’s turn she has nothing to talk about because Dakota has said it all and it is getting late so she has to go to bed. Sprig’s favourite neighbour is ill and Sprig’s class bully is acting wierd around her, well to her like a boyfriend.
This book is great to read and it calms you down and makes you want to read more. It’s a really good book because of Sprig’s personality. I would recommend this book to you, it is a great book and all of the characters have a good personalities.

For this weeks homework we had to explain to our parents about the term 3 High Flyer criteria. I only spoke to my mum about it and her thoughts about the term 3 High Flyer criteria was, I think it is a great variety of activities to choose from and great choices for the children to show there evidence to see how they completed it and to see if they can manage the time given to complete the term 3 High Flyer criteria. And my thoughts were that it has been pretty fun so far and I hope to be in the High Flyer Club at the end of the year which means getting a High Flyer for every term. Also as a reward you will get your term 4 High Flyer framed especially for you!

On Tuesday 4th of August my class and I went on and excursion to the Migration Musuem in town. First at 9:00 we went to the bus stop around the corner from the school, we went on a public bus. When the bus came to pick us up it was empty but when our whole class got on the bus it was full so some people had to stand up, or give there seat up for the elderly. When we got off the bus we had to walk a little bit to the place we were going which was the Migration Museum.
When we first got there we had time to eat our recess, we then got put into 5 different groups. After we got put in groups the guide came out and escorted us to a little room where we were going to be for the day. When we got into the room she chose a table that our group was to sit at. She then explained what exactly we were going to do. We had a suit case with valuable items in them, we had a passport, blankets, documents and photos. We were being detectives we had to find out who our person was and information about them. We had to put gloves on so we wouldn’t put our finger prints on those valuable things. We then had to write down our side of the story for our person, we had to read it out to the class and then watch a little movie and see the real story.
I learnt a lot about migrants and refugees, it was great fun and to see who can work out information about there person.

At the moment I am reading A Series Of Unfortunate Events, The Bad Beginning. I have just started reading it and I’m already up to page 57 chapter 5, the chapters are really short so I haven’t got to know the characters really well. This is my response to the question Which charater would you like as a friend?. The character I would like as a friend would be Violet because she is the eldest child, she loves inventing which I think is cool because I would love to know how to invent things that I am interest in. She is very smart and very responsible which will help me to become a responsible which will help me to become a responsiblechild and that will get me ready for high school. Also the smartness will help me because I don’t think I am the best so she can help me understand my work.

During the holidays I think it was the day after Harry Potter came out I went to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in Gold Lounge. My cousin suprised one of my cousins, my two brothers and I to go and see Harry Potter in Gold Lounge. My other cousins aren’t interested in Harry Potter so they didn’t come. We went on a Thursday night which was fun about 6:30 I think. In my opinion it wasn’t the best movie of them all but it was pretty good, the best part about it it was Gold Lounge. It was great fun because it was my first time in Gold Lounge and to see the how it was set up. The lounges were actually a Goldish colour which was cool and they were very comfortable. Before the movie you go into this place and wait for them to call you in, while you are waiting you can order anything on the menu and pick a time for them to serve it to you any time. At first we had located seats which we had to book, just before the movie starts they give you your bucket of popcorn and your drink that you ordered. It was great fun on those big and cosy couches and to see the sixth Harry Potter movie in Gold Lounge. Did you here for the seventh movie is cut in half so there are two parts to a movie so you have to buy two seperate tickets to go in. It was a good movie and I suggest it to you others that haven’t seen it yet.

Well first of all I chose this subject because I would like to find out more about it and how they make this yummy chocolate. I have been there before and I have brought many chocolates from there. I have been on a tour when i was really young and I hardly remember it. I would like to find out when it was invented and who by, I also would like to find out how many factorys there are in Australia and how many employees there are in Adelaide. When I was thinking about what I should do my presentation on I was thinking about how yum there chocolates are and I want to eat some now, and then it clicked in to my mind why don’t I do Haigh’s Chocolate Factory. I have thought it out how I will research my presentation and what links to go to. Well I hope I enjoy researching about this topic and I hope my classmates enjoy my presentaion.

This week during art using dots we had to create a picture of any type, we had converse shoes to flowers how creative. First we had to draw a picture in pencil and then go over it in dots with texta, we then had to go over it in many colours and make it look real. Next time we do art we will finish our first product and then we will go in the art room and do it again but on a larger piece of paper and with paint. What will be good is to see everyone’s finish product and to see what kind of creative ideas they had. Well it was fun to create and then see the end product which will be very soon.

Today the 23rd of June 2009 we had our second lesson from the Power Community Youth Program. There are a few athletes that come every week but they mix around. This week Moronia Gerrard from the Adelaide Thunderbirds Netball club, Jonathon Giles, Matt Thomas and Wade Thompson from Port Adelaide Football club came and spoke to us. They teach us about a Healthy Lifestyle and how to keep fit.
This week they spoke to us about smoking and cigarettes and the damage it can do to you. Did you know that one cigarette has 4,000 chemicals in it? You can also spend 10,000 dollars in 10 years.
There are many different chemicals in a cigarette I will name a few, Arsenic is Rat Poison, Ammonia has Cleaninig products in it, Butane has Gas in it and Toluene has Nail Polish Remover in it. Yuck!

Over the past two weeks at school we have learnt, seen videos and pictures of the Murray Darling System and how there is no water left there at all. In 2004 the water would be right at your feet when you walk past, 2007 slightly lower, 2008 about ankle hight, finally 2009 there is nothing there it’s just dirt. We have watched many videos and seen pictures of it drying up and we have also even been there it is amazing seeing it in real life. You can actually see what it is and also reading about it is very interesting. It has been a good experience and I will have this stuck in my head for a long time.
